There’s a bad moon on the rise for Abby Craig. Nothing is as it seems. And it’s going to take more than Southern hospitality to survive the night. A lot more.

This is book 12 is this series. These are usually pretty quick reads for me, but I absolutely love them! The author does a great job keeping you on edge of your seat.

Abby Craig was in a car crash and was dead for 44 minutes…she now sees ghosts and has been helping them. In order to understand everything you’ll need to read the first 11, so if you haven’t, there will be spoilers in this review…you’ve been warned!

Jesse is Abby’s best friend and was in the accident with her, unfortunately, he wasn’t as lucky as her and died. It took her until the end of book 1 to realize this, because she can see ghosts but didn’t realize it at first so she didn’t think anything of it.

“Did you ever spend much time in yours?” I asked. “Your coffin?”
“Not a second. I just stood next to my dad, trying to tell him I was all right. But he couldn’t hear me.”
“I’m sorry I wasn’t there,” I said.
“You didn’t miss much. Besides you were still in the hospital and under the impression I was alive, remember?”
“I remember,” I said. “That was very special, what you did. Not telling me until I was ready.”
“Don’t mention it.”
I went over and kissed him on the cheek.

We met the Mortimer brothers earlier in the series…they are actually a pretty big, and important part. Nathaniel is crazy…he died, but never moved on, then he took over his brother Ben’s body. Nathaniel ended up killing Ben, but since he’s a ghost and no one can see him Abby gets blamed, so she runs to avoid murder charges.

Abby has/had this great amazing boyfriend/fiancé Ty, he even understood all the ghost stuff. When she ran because the murder charges he was crushed. She misses him, but is afraid he hates her but she still loves him. We get to kind of hear how he’s doing when she talks to David (one of her besties)!

“How’s Ty doing?”
There was a long pause.
“Do you want me to tell you the truth or should I just lie?”
My heart dropped hard like a watermelon falling off the back of a truck.
“Is he bad?”
“Girlfriend, you were the love of his life. He’s not good, I’ll tell you that much. But I think he’s getting better. Man, if Sista Kate knew I was telling you…”
“Telling me what?”
“Well, really, there’s not much to tell. Except that…” “Except what?”
“He’s gone, Abby Craig. He’s back in Montana.”
I didn’t know why it hurt hearing that, but it did.
“He’s been in bad shape since you left. I mean, beyond bad shape. He even managed to get himself fired.”

We met Samael a few books back, he told Abby he’s a fallen Angel who is trying to atone for his sins. After book 11 we still aren’t sure if he’s good or bad, he just comes and goes but does seem to be helping Abby get ready for her final show down with Nathaniel. This book is about her trying to get better physically, mentally, and spiritually.

At the very end she has a vision of Samael with a demon, kissing his hand…hmm maybe he isn’t good at all…I guess we’ll have to see in the series final book 13…

An icy shiver passed through me as I realized who it was that Samael was kneeling before.
A spirit even darker than Nathaniel.
The darkest of them all.
The original fallen angel.
Lucifer.

I have loved all these books, and I highly recommend this series!!

  1. It’s so nice to see a review on a series that I love but is not well known. I’m on part 4 so far, and loving every moment of it. Although, I’m pacing myself because I don’t want it to end. I have the tendency to swallow a series in a matter of days and then going through withdraw, lol! If you like this series, you may like The Ripple Series by Cidney Swanson.
