One night. One big mistake. One boy that changes everything.

Britte Nichols has a plan.

And it’s a good one. College. Med School. Illustrious career. Then maybe a husband. Possibly children, but she doesn’t want to get ahead of herself.

Britte decided at a young age that she wasn’t going to let love get in the way of her future. She has things to do. Places to go and all that.

Until the night she has one too many drinks and lets lust override logic.

Beckett Harris is gorgeous, talented and completely bad for her. But she wasn’t the only one feeling fireworks that night. Now Beckett wants to explore their chemistry and his timing couldn’t be more inconvenient.

Her heart wants what her head knows she can’t have. But a girl has needs. So when Beckett bets her a few weeks of harmless fun, she wants to say yes.

She’ll just have to bet that Beckett doesn’t fall for her too.

This is book two in the In the Dark series which can be read as a stand alone but is so much better being read after the first one, Bet on Us, also known as Bet in the Dark.

Britte has had very high expectations of herself after having a difficult childhood. She is currently in school to become a doctor and she has pushed herself to do her best which leaves no room for distractions including one Beckett Harris who could turn into a major one.

I had a crush on him. A crush that could turn into something so much more if I gave it even a little bit of room.

Beckett has now graduated college and is in grad school, but his brother Lennox has lined up this internship for him at his cooperation. He has always lived and breathed baseball so this was a major change for him…until an opportunity comes that he can’t pass up.

I needed a goal. Britte would be a perfect redirection of energy. Not that she was some project, but that I found I wanted to win her. I wanted to prove to her that I wasn’t this horrible person she thought I was.

Britte knows she has something great with Beckett but she has worked too hard to get where she is with school and her dreams of being a doctor. Plus her dad throws her a bombshell about her mom. Can Britte work past her trust issues to allow Beckett in or will she continuing on with her life plan?!

We get to see Ellie, Fin, Jameson, and of course all Ellie’s brothers in this one too. This was a great addition to this series and I can’t wait to see what comes next!! Really hoping we get a Lennox and Grayson book!!

Was given an ARC for my honest review.
